What those citing Hamaker to attack global warming fail to understand is that (1) Hamaker links rising CO2 levels to climatic catastrophe, and (2) that he did see rising CO2 levels affecting climate because of the greenhouse effect. Hamaker thought that global warming is a tropical effect that helps bring on greater cooling toward the poles, thus producing an ice age (if I understand his hypotheses).

Yes. as I have understood global warming...it leads to melting of the polar caps, thus causing a flood and a resulting ice age. So, it sounds like a contradiction that global warming would cause an ice age, but makes scientific sense.
But, again I don't think anyone can really know if what we are doing is causing global warming because of all of the variables.
I think the biggest crime regarding the global warming theory is the people that are profiteering off of the idea.

WTF, what difference does it make if its real or not? You can be a good steward or a freaking slob of the earth. Hell lets all just roll down the windows and throw out our garbage on the side of the road. Let's use the ocean as a garbage can. if global warming don't get us, our lack of stewardship will, plain and simple.

...and Claimtruth mentioned that there are profits to be made because of carbon controls. Well, there are profits to be made by not having carbon limits. Works both ways. And so to sway public opinion we get those feel-good, environmentally-PC TV commercials by oil companies telling about their company's involvement in alternate energy research. Sure.

(Not that energy companies are not involved in alternate energy research and projects, but that it is such a small part of their business.)

When a company spends a bunch of bucks to position itself as environmentally sensitive, you can bet that there are skeletons in the closet. I seem to remember TV ads by W.R. Grace run at the same time they ran a cancer-rampant pollution-city up in the north, that was the basis for the book "A Civil Action."

J. Peter Grace, one in a line of Graces to profit from the family company's polluting practices, was selected by Ronnie Reagan to head up a commission investigating government waste, the Grace Commission, which earned J. Peter a guest spot on "Wall Street Week" back 25 years ago. Did the Grace Commission target EPA waste? Don't know.

Dude! Do you have to keep demonstrating the limitations of your cognitive processes? If there's not a gay gene, it must be choice. If it's cold this winter, there must not be any global warming. I've known 6 year olds who had a better grasp of things than you do.

Yet there is no proof of god on any level, and you expect all of US to live by your beliefs in your own particular warped perception of what your god wants. I'm glad you're on "their" side, 'cause you're way too cognitively challenged to be on mine.

Did you bother to read and understand the whole article, or just the first few lines.

I do understand how you have difficulty with understanding climate science and science in general. For those who believe in Creationism and such, it's all done by God, and is in a steady state of perfection, so change is unacceptable. Also, since they know that God did it, it's all black and white.

Science is all about learning new things and fitting them into known facts, and changing "known" facts to fit the new ones. However, some religious folks seem to think that they already know everything, so science and the scientific method are just too complicated and abstract for those with limited cognitive abilities to deal with.

Yes, it is cold, because it is winter, but remember that it will probably be hot come summer time.

I'm sure that many on the Dumbassed Texas Board of Education would lean toward your way of thinking.

So all of global warming theory rests on the shoulders of this Phil Jones who has labored away in his chaotic office at an obscure British college? Nobody else in the world has bothered to collect temperature history data and interpret it--just Phil? Somehow I doubt that.
