That's actually a tree. 10 points if you can tell me what kind of tree it is.

Hard to tell, but it looks like a southern magnolia.

Does look like a magnolia, tho' the leaves may not be as shiny and green. An avocado?

The pic is Natalie Portman from the movie Where the Heart is-and she's carrying a Buckeye tree-but, after comparing the pic to an actual buckeye-it's kinda hard to tell. 10 points anyway. lol

Not many buckeyes in Lubbock! Only Portman movie I've seen was The Professional, with my fav actor, Jean Reno. She carried a plant around in that movie, too.

completely hateful and unnecessary.

Sorry-- the farther I get from Lubbock the better I am able to forget that folks actually talk like that there, and that making a comment like that doesn't come across as obvious sarcasm.

My point was that the reasons pot was declared illegal are cultural or economic and have little to do with the welfare of the users: amphetamines are now legal and traded among students, pot is still something for which you can be jailed.

The prohibition of many drugs in the US often has its roots in simple racism, and if you have even a passing familiarity with the rhetoric used to ban pot in the early 20th century, you know that the "problem" had a lot to do with the fact that brown folks find it a useful thing.

Sorry to derail the lemon tree thing, but to return to the OP, the reason adderol (or, to call it what it is, amphetamine) is so freely dispensed has more to do with attention to who uses it than with the actual effects of the drug.

I saw Reno in The Big Blue. did you like the Professional?
Natalie Portman has a pretty impressive career. you should check out some more of her stuff-V for Vendetta is a recommendation.

Adderall is an amphetamine, it is hightly addictive and can cause significant increase in blood pressure and cardiovascular accident; among many other things including psych problems. It is abused for the "high" and weight loss. I would not want my kids to ever get a hold of it even if it meant better longer studying and straight A's!!

Been wanting to see "V for Vendetta." Am usually 10-15 years behind on movies, finding tapes and DVDs in garage sales; haven't seen a new movie or rented one on years. "The Professional" is not a movie that one likes, unpleasantly violent, but with good roles for Reno and Portman. Gary Oldman played the quirky heavy, which he is still doing (Book of Eli and another flick out now) and is good at.

For Jean Reno, the most enjoyable movie I've seen of his was "Ronin." Plenty of car chases, action, scenes in the south of France and Paris. One car chase goes through tunnels like the one where Prince Charles' ex-wife was killed. Fine movie where you can park your brain, eat chips and guzzle soda pop, and just relax.
