do we really want government in charge of health care

do we really want government in charge of health care

What will happen when we are forced to buy into the health care plan? For one thing, we will cease in having a choice. If I am forced to buy something I don't want, then I no longer have that money to buy something else, or invest in something else.
What if I am strapped for cash-but I don't fall into the "poverty" guidelines,.. Will I be forced to sell my house, my car just so I can afford the health plan?
What if I don't like the health plan, what if the beaurocracy causes failure in execution and quality of the health care? What other choice will I have?? none.
What if the beauracracy decides it won't cover some of the things I or my loved ones are afflicted with. What then? ( Don't forget, Insurance plans can change what is covered at any time.)
I don't want to go down this road.

We already have medicaid. Those who can't afford insurance already get health care. what is the real goal and purpose of this plan? Why is is so important to get it pushed through right now. Are we being strong armed by this administration?

For the most part, I'd have to say, "we'll just have to wait and see."

I think I'd quite like to have the same insurance, and care, that our representatives enjoy on a daily basis and for some reason are so incredibly afraid to provide to the people that they serve.

Why now? Why not 10 years ago? Why not 50 years ago? There's no time like the present, and people are in dire need. Whereas you, and I, and many others may not be, there are those that are. Even if you can't see them, don't know them, or they don't talk about it with you, they exist, and they are hurting and have been hurting for YEARS, ct.

I don't think anyone is going to expect you to sell your car, your house, or your virtue.

I will not argue that there are people, who for some reason or another, have fallen through the cracks when it comes to provision of health care. I don't understand the ends and outs of the welfare or medicaid system, and I am sure that there are those who cannot afford private insurance, but do not fall in the guidelines of the welfare system. So, let's address that. Instead we have a 2000 + page bill that requires all of us to partake and gives government complete control. Yes, let's help those in need, I don't see anyone disagreeing with that. If that is the concern here then that is what should be addressed. Instead it is being exploited as the purpose of the multi agenda bill.

All bills are multi-purpose, multi-agenda bills.

My question is - why hasn't there been real health care reform sooner?

Personally, I'm a broke ass. I can't afford a lot of anything, and very little of anything else. But if I have to do my meager part in order to ensure that sick folks, hurt folks, miserable folks are taken care of instead of set aside and discarded like trash, I'm sorry, CT.. I'm all about it.

Do you have insurance? For the most part, the only folks I've heard complaining about "What? I'm going to HAVE to have insurance?" are people who already do anyway.

I know I do. My whole family is covered. Without _both_ our car insurance, and our health insurance, there is no way way we could have survived the ordeal of our car accident in 2007.

Personally, I'd rather pay a little to ensure that other human beings are covered and able to REcover from medical situations and expenses than have my personal rights and liberties trampled upon so that people like Don May and The Saint can _feel_ like they might be more safe from terrorists.... who never had either on their radar to begin with.
